The Social Care Service intervenes in the social difficulties presented by people with kidney disease and their families. Through the intervention of social workers and socio-health care techniques, a beneficial and effective reception is provided and a response is given to socio-economic and socio-health issues that affect people with kidney disease and that make their adaptation and autonomy difficult.
Social workers evaluate the socio-family situation and intervene to improve it, providing information and advice on social issues, helping in the processing and management of social resources, promoting personal and family resources, and providing tools for the empowerment of the person and of the family unit.
Some of the most frequent tasks and procedures carried out by social workers within the social care service are:
-
- Guidance, information and advice on public and private social resources.
- Help in processing financial and material benefits.
- Information and processing of the disability certificate.
- Information and support in the management of Permanent Disability.
- Processing of aid to compensate expenses from the Department of Health for travel resulting from the transplant, from the moment the protocol to enter the list begins as well as in subsequent control and follow-up visits.
- Processing of expenses compensation aid from the Department of Health for Home Hemodialysis treatment.

It is she who channels the first request, opening the personal file, referring the rest of the professionals of the Multidisciplinary Care team and providing basic information about different aspects of the disease and about the association’s services and programs.
The opening hours of the Social Care Service at our headquarters are from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. We recommend making an appointment by calling 964 228 363, extension 1.
